Liberal Arts in a Welcoming Environment

Home to more than 1,100 of the most engaged, independent, and open-minded students in America, Oglethorpe’s multicultural student community is known for its free-thinking attitude and global outlook. It is among the most liberal universities in America.

The Arts

You can visit 7,000 square feet of exhibition space hosting three major exhibitions a year at Oglethorpe University Museum of Art (OUMA). Faculty members and museum staff work together to develop courses and exhibitions that complement each other.

Oglethorpe University Theatre puts on five performances each year. You can play your part at the University’s Conant Performing Arts Center and there is a range of musical ensembles for you to get involved in.

University Community

You can join one of more than 50 university clubs on campus. This is a great way to make friends through shared experiences. If you want to have your say on important decisions about life on campus and organizing exciting events, you can join the Student Government Association (SGA).

Clubs and Activities Include:

  • Playing for or supporting the Petrels, Oglethorpe's 16 sports teams
  • Volunteering in the local community by participating in days of service
  • Joining one of our nine fraternities or sororities
  • Visiting the Oglethorpe University Museum of Art
  • Acting in one of the university theatre productions

Oglethorpe is proud of its inclusive campus. Students from all different backgrounds can find support during their studies, both academic and personal, regardless of their gender, nationality, race, religion or sexuality.
