Travel Across the USA

Due to its size, the landscape and temperature in the USA varies greatly from north to south and east to west. Atlanta's position makes it easy to travel across Georgia and the south of the USA, as well as further afield. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International is the closest airport to Oglethorpe University. From here you can take flights to destinations across the USA and around the world. You can also take an Amtrak train from Atlanta’s Peachtree Station. Daily services depart for New York, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, and New Orleans. Greyhound coach services are an inexpensive way to travel to destinations such as Miami, Chicago, Orlando, and Nashville.

Currency and Banking

The currency in the USA is the US dollar. You will also see it written as USD or US$. If you set up a US bank account when you arrive, it will make your life easier and you will be able to avoid currency exchange fees when you pay your bills. You can access your cash from ATMs at any time of day. You will find them in lots of locations within US towns and cities.
